This turnkey Carbide Create .C2D file is designed specifically for the Shapeoko 4 XXL and Shapeoko Pro XXL CNC machines and is set up for use with a 1-1/4" diameter surfacing bit.

Whether you're installing a fresh wasteboard or resurfacing one that's seen some use, flattening your wasteboard helps create a consistent reference surface that's parallel to the movement of your CNC.

WHY SURFACE YOUR WASTEBOARD?

Even a new wasteboard may not be perfectly parallel to your CNC's cutting plane. Small differences in height across the machine can affect engraving depths, V-carving, thin-material cutting, and other operations where consistent Z depth is important.

Surfacing removes a small amount of material from the top of the wasteboard to create a consistent working surface that's parallel to your CNC.

TURNKEY CARBIDE CREATE FILE

You can certainly create your own wasteboard surfacing toolpath, but if you'd rather skip the setup, this file is ready to go.

The toolpath is configured for a 1-1/4" surfacing bit and is intentionally designed to take a light surfacing pass rather than aggressively removing material.

This allows you to make multiple passes as needed while preserving as much of your wasteboard thickness as possible.

After each pass, simply reset your Z zero only and repeat the toolpath until the entire reachable cutting area has been surfaced.
